Contagion

OMG!

I cannot believe i was going to pay $16.95 to go watch this B grade **** at the cinema. I was so dissapointed with this movie, I watched it through thinking it would get better but it was just a steaming pile of **** Even my 11 year old daughter sat and watched it with me, laughed mostly through it because it was "so stupid" and sat there making fun of the story line.

A bitter dissapointment :S

I have a different opinion :O The movie was just great, the actors were very good and the story line simulated very well a real virus event.
I love dooms day movies :D (this was not 1 dooms day scenario but it's in the same genre).

Cheers to you my friend :VOPI Nice Christmas 4 u :VOPI

ps: sorry for the bad English :S

I tried to keep an open mind while watching it, but I could not go along with the way it was presented.
We just went though a couple of scares with SARS -
("Between Nov.02 & July 03 an outbreak of SARS in Hong Kong nearly became a pandemic, with 8,422 cases and 916 deaths worldwide according to the WHO. Within weeks SARS spread from Hong Kong to infect individuals in 37 countries.")
and H1N1 -
(In 2009 the Mexican government closed most of Mexico City's public and private facilities in an attempt to contain the spread of the virus; however, it continued to spread globally, and clinics in some areas were overwhelmed by infected people. In June, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stopped counting cases and declared the outbreak a pandemic.)
, so it is a real possibility that mankind could very well get hit with another global epidemic (Pandemic) like the "Spanish flu" !

(That pandemic lasted from June 1918 to Dec.1920, spreading even to the Arctic and remote Pacific islands. Between 50 and 100 million died, making it one of the deadliest natural disasters in human history. Even using the lower estimate of 50 million people, 3% of the world's population died of the disease. Some 500 million, were infected).
BETWEEN 50 & 100 MILLION DIED ! Think about that for a moment... There's no question that you or your family / friends would be effected, should mankind face a virus that deadly today ! In 1918 we did not have the number of people hop scotching around the globe that we do today, so the spread of a virus today would look more like a wild fire ! The nightmare would be if it was a "novel" virus (one we have not encountered before).
Anyway, the main problem I had with this flick was that it played more like a made for TV movie then a theatrical release. They also gave people far more credit portraying their reactions and how people would deal with their fellow man !
IT WOULD BE FAR WORST THEN THEY PORTRAYED !
Oh, one thing they did get pretty close to reality... The Internet blogger ! LOL

I think this movie was great it made me open my eyes more on how bad and quickly something like this could actually happen. Thanks for sharing it!

I have to agree with you DDW

I find it very unlikely that humans would be so calm about it a pandemic like that. I mean to look at history and human behaviour its fair to say it would be every man for themselves, its sad but its true. Just look how people carried on when the swine flu hit. Here in OZ people were being screened and quarantined at the airports etc and I will say im guilty of being scared for my kids, my son contracted it and I thought I was going to lose him I have never EVER seen my little man so sick before, his temp was sitting on 42 celcius for 4 days, I couldnt get it down even with cool baths and showers and fever drugs. I sat next to his bed for 5 days and only left his side to do my business and grab a bite to eat or get something for him to keep the fluids in him. We got turned away from the hospital and the doctors faxed a prescription to the chemist for pick up, they say they couldnt see him I say they wouldnt see him, so it was up to me to take care of him, medicate him and keep his fever down, thank whatever deity there is that i have some medical training and nerves of steel. I honestly have never been so scared for one of my kids like that before. Thankfully no one else in the house contracted it. After a month or so and quite a few deaths they started letting kids with swine flu like symptoms back at school there wasnt a snowballs chance in h3ll I was sending my kids to school, so I kept them home for about 3 weeks until things settled and the vaccine was offered. We never got the vaccine though, obviously during my sons illness we developed some sort of natural immunity to it.

Anyway....back to Contagion LOL

I downloaded the wrong Contagion when i made that first comment LMAO it was that crappy almost adult film industry alien pops out of the cannister Contagion movie DUH!

The other Contagion movie was ok, though mans response in those situations are a lot different than portrayed, people would go into mass hysteria and panic and would dissasociate themselves from one and other much like the dad (MW) in the flick did with his daughter, and if something like this happened i could see everyone getting rounded up and put in the "sick" and "non sick" piles, the killings and robberies, the crimes a human would commit in the midst of utter chaos. After all humans are just like any other animal, save the strong and leave the weak.
